LTC High School Equivalency Program Visiting Local Libraries
Lincoln Trail College Academic Success Center Director Rena Gower will be visiting local libraries to talk about the College’s High School Equivalency Program, which is known as the GED Program.  Gower will be answering questions people may have about the program and to evaluate if there is enough interest to start classes away from Lincoln Trail College. “I’m also inviting people to share any obstacles they may have that are keeping them from taking the HSE class, “says Gower. “We want to try to meet the needs of our community and this type of information will be helpful.”

LTC Offering Self-Defense for Women Class
Lincoln Trail College will offer a Self-Defense for Women Class October. 21 from 6-7 PM. Instructor Andy Bradbury will teach three-to-four techniques that can be used to protect yourself from danger. The cost of the class is $10 and it is free for full-time Lincoln Trail College students. People can register for the class by calling 618-544-6857.

Cast Announced for LTC Production of A Delightful Quarantine
Tara Gallion has announced the cast list for Lincoln Trail College’s 2020 Fall production, “A Delightful Quarantine.” Mark Dunn’s 2006 comedy asks the question of what it would be like to be confined with people you don’t really know after strange visitors leave behind a deadly disease that leaves seven separate households unexpectedly quarantined.

LTC Offering Community CPR Class
Lincoln Trail College will offer a CPR class for the community on October 3 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.  Students will learn how to provide CPR to an adult, child or infant and how to use an automated external defibrillator. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a CPR card through the American Heart Association.  The cost of the class is $35, and students can register for the class by calling 618-544-8657.

LTC Offering Crochet Class
Lincoln Trail College is offering a class that will help you learn how to crochet. The crochet class begins on October 14 and runs to November 18. The class will serve as an introduction to crochet for beginners, but will also give a review of basic techniques for people that are looking for a refresher on how to crochet.  The class will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at Lincoln Trail College. The cost of the class is $40 plus the cost of supplies. People can register for Crochet by calling 618-544-8657.

LTC Celebrates Adult Education and Family Literacy Week
September 20-26 marks the annual Adult Education and Family Literacy Week. The week serves as a reminder that reading, writing, and basic math remain an elusive target for 36 million adults across the country. According to ProLiteracy, a non-profit organization that supports literacy programs, low literacy costs the United States $225 billion or more each year in non-productivity in the workforce, crime, and loss of tax revenue due to unemployment. They say that 43 percent of adults with the lowest literacy levels live in poverty.

IECC Board Approves Bid for Theater Renaissance Project
A Lincoln Trail College project that has been in the works for the last three years took a major step forward after the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees approved the bid for the Theater Renaissance Project. The addition to the Zwermann Arts Center will add a new choral room that doubles as a mid-sized lecture hall along with additional practice rooms, and office and storage spaces.

Eddy Named LTC Interim President
Roger Eddy will assume the role as the Interim President at Lincoln Trail College on October 1. He takes over for Dr. Ryan Gower who was selected as the Chancellor for Illinois Eastern Community Colleges in May.

LTC Shows Fall Enrollment Growth
There were only four community colleges in the State of Illinois that saw positive enrollment growth for the Fall 2020 semester. Lincoln Trail College was one of the four colleges with a three percent growth in enrollment.
