IECC Colleges Observing Constitution Day
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges will observe Constitution Day on Thursday, September 17, 2020.  The IECC colleges will observe Constitution Day with a variety of activities and resources to promote the study of the Constitution. The following activities are planned at the IECC colleges:

LTC Shows Fall Enrollment Growth
There were only four community colleges in the State of Illinois that saw positive enrollment growth for the Fall 2020 semester. Lincoln Trail College was one of the four colleges with a three percent growth in enrollment.

LTC Offering CNA Instructor Course
Lincoln Trail College is offering a CNA Instructor Course for RNs that includes the Alzheimer’s Disease and approved evaluator components. The program will be online only and there is no face-to-face requirement. The Train the Trainer Program starts September 14 and runs through October 23. The cost is $599 and is conducted in compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health regulations. The class is designed for nurses who are eager to teach in a Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program and want to learn how to teach in a classroom and in the clinical setting.

TRIO Student Support Services Grant Renewed Through 2025
The grant that funds the TRIO Student Support Services program at Illinois Eastern Community Colleges has been renewed through 2025. TRIO SSS is a 100-percent federally-funded program from the U.S. Department of Education that is designed to provide academic development and assist students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.

Parking Restrictions Due To Paving And Striping
Parking lots at Lincoln Trail College will be sealed and striped beginning Monday, August 31. The work will impact faculty, staff, and students alike. Additional parking will be available on North Campus. Please do not park on the grass. Monday, August 31 – Half of the Main Parking Lot will be closed. It will reopen September 2 or September 3, weather permitting. Monday, August 31 – The Faculty/Staff parking lot will be closed. It will reopen September 2 or September 3, weather permitting.

LTC Offering Chalk Painting Classes
Lincoln Trail College will offer a trio of Chalk Couture classes this fall.  The first class is September 22 and will serve as an introduction to Chalk Couture.(Note: The class on Sept. 22 has been canceled) The second class is October 5 and will focus on pumpkin projects and students can make a farmhouse sign in the final class on Oct. 19. Each class runs from 6:30-8:30 at LTC. The cost of each class is $30, and participants can sign up for each class individually. Students can register by calling 618-544-8657.

OCC Spring 2020 Honors List
OLNEY, Ill. — Outstanding students at Olney Central College have been named to the Chief Executive Officer’s, President’s and Dean’s Lists for Spring Semester 2020. Students named to the Chief Executive Officer’s List have attained a grade point average of 3.90 or higher, on a 4.0 scale. Those on the President’s List have achieved a grade point average between 3.75 and 3.89, while those students named to the Dean’s List have earned a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.74.  Chief Executive Officer’s List: Albion: Shelby Dascotte

LTC Offering Cookie and Cupcake Decorating Class
Lincoln Trail College will give kids a chance to learn how to decorate cookies and cupcakes in an upcoming class. Decorating Cookies and Cupcakes for Kids begins September 9 and meets Wednesday nights from 6-7:30 through September 30. Kids will learn how to create fancy cookies and fabulous cupcakes during the class, which will be held at the Robinson Community Center.

KJ Conklin Joins OCC Coaching Staff
KJ Conklin has joined Olney Central College as an assistant men’s basketball coach. “I am extremely excited about working with these players,” Conklin said. “I’ve had a chance to meet and work with them for the last two weeks and they have a passion to get better. With the delayed start to the season, we will have the additional time to do that. I am really looking forward helping them in their journey both off and on the court.”

Denton Publishes Book Featuring Latest Essays on JFK Assassination
Olney Central College Professor David Denton has published a collection of his latest essays regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The 88-page publication primarily focuses on new witness information and previously classified documents related to the Kennedy assassination, which were released by the National Archives in 2017. “The essays are my analysis of these things written over a three-year period,” Denton said. “The articles put a narrative and perspective to them.”
