Students Register for New Student Orientation at Lincoln Trail College

Lincoln Trail College New Student Orientation August 17
The Fall Semester at Lincoln Trail College begins on August 18 and the College will help new students prepare for college at New Student Orientation on August 17.  “We’re giving students some flexibility with orientation this year,” said Director of Marketing Chris Forde. “Instead of having one session, we’re offering students a choice of three different times.”

Lincoln Trail College Prepares for Dual Credit Orientation
High school students taking dual credit classes at Lincoln Trail College will get the chance to prepare with LTC’s Dual Credit Orientation on August 2 at 6 p.m. “Dual Credit Orientation is an introduction to what college classes are like,” says LTC Director of Instructional Services Erin Volk. “College classes are a change for high school students, and we want them to be prepared so they can be successful.”

LTC Student Finishes 7th in Nation at FBLA Event
Lincoln Trail College’s Mackenzi McIntosh (’22) finished seventh in the nation at the Future Business Leaders of American Collegiate National Leadership Conference in Organizational Behavior and Leadership. The six people that finished ahead of her were all students from four-year universities.

LTC Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Earns Four Awards
Lincoln Trail College’s Alpha Iota Epsilon chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society was recognized at the Illinois Regional Convention and Honors Institute. Lincoln Trail College won awards for its College Project, Honors in Action Project, Outstanding Officer Team, and Outstanding Chapter.   “It is thrilling,” said chapter co-advisor Kim Shucker. “Winning the four awards was such a great testament to the scholarship and service mindedness our students in Phi Theta Kappa! It also awarded them for their abilities to work as a team and support each other.”

Lincoln Trail College Spring 2022 Honors
Lincoln Trail College has released its academic honor lists for the Spring 2022 Semester. Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence. They are the Chancellor’s Honors List, the President’s Academic Honors List and the Dean’s Academic Honors List.   To qualify for any of the honor lists, a student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) and must be taking college-level classes.

LTC's Zakowski Serving as President of Phi Theta Kappa's Illinois Region
Lincoln Trail College will be represented in statewide leadership for Phi Theta Kappa for the second consecutive year. LTC’s Ethan Zakowski was elected to serve as the President of the Illinois Region.   He says that the new role means a lot to him. “I’ve started my leadership at a small scale here at LT and now I’m taking on this position at a larger scale. This role is going to help my search for my next college, helps me in the future workforce, and it also gives me a behind the scenes look at how organizations run which is of interest to me.”

Disney's The Lion King JR. Coming to LTC
Disney’s The Lion King JR. is playing at LTC starting on Saturday, June 25th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, June 26th  at 2:00 pm. The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school-aged performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film.

Disney's Winnie the Pooh Kids Coming to LTC
Disney’s WINNIE THE POOH KIDS! is playing at Lincoln Trail College starting on Thursday, June 23rd & Friday, June 24th at 7:00 pm. The 30-minute musical, designed for elementary-school-aged performers, is based on the 2011 animated feature film. The Lincoln Trail College Children’s Summer Theater cast contains approximately 22 students led by Mindy Evans.   Cast List:   Red............................... Route 1 Closure to Impact LTC Entrance
The Illinois Department of Transportation is replacing a bridge on Illinois Route 1 just north of Illinois Route 33. The road will be closed from May 16, 2022, until the project is completed, which is expected to be in mid-September.  Lincoln Trail College will only be accessible from the north during the construction and visitors should allow extra time to arrive to campus. Detour: Use North Jackson Street in Robinson to North Trimble Road to Illinois Route 1.
Danyelle Ayers receives teacher of the year award

Ayers Named Teacher of the Year
The Illinois Adult and Continuing Educators Association recognized Lincoln Trail College instructor Danyelle Ayers as the 2022 Arthur J. Stejskal Teacher of the Year. She received the award at a virtual ceremony on May 5, which is Teachers Appreciation Day.
