Overview

The Nail Technology Certificate provides the skills and knowledge students need to enter this expanding area in the cosmetology field. Through in-class instruction and clinical experiences, students learn all aspects of nail care and gain the expertise needed to perform today's hottest nail trends. Students gain real-world experience working with clients in our dedicated lab.

The program consists of four classes with students receiving training in manicures, pedicures, fabric and sculpting procedures, light cured gels and massaging of the extremities. Students also learn how to treat different types of nails and to repair cracks and chips.

Classes are offered in the evenings and students enter the two-semester program in the fall. Classes are held in the West Richland Center at 320 East North Avenue in Noble.

State Licensure

While enrolled in the program, students receive basic training in personal and public hygiene, ethics, sterilization and disinfection and OSHA standards. Instruction also focuses on cell metabolism and body systems, the theory of massage, Illinois state laws and management practices. The program prepares students to pass the state examination to receive a licensure as a nail technician.
