Community Colleges Pathways to Medicine Program Begins

Medicine Pathways
Feb 07, 2020

Students interested in pursuing a career in medical, nursing, and other healthcare-related occupations can attend a free program February 11 put on by Lincoln Trail College and the SIU School of Medicine.

“Many students are interested in medical and health-related professions,” says Lincoln Trail College Dean of Instruction Brent Todd. “With that said, some are unfamiliar with the application processes and procedures. The idea with the Community College Pathways to Medicine program is to help students better understand what they need to do to get into healthcare.”

Tuesday’s program features three speakers. Dr. Kathleen Jones with the SIU MEDPREP Program will talk about the MCAT. Kyrah Buchanan with Illinois Eastern Community Colleges’ Nursing Program will discuss the TEAS and NCLEX tests. SIU School of Medicine’s Liesl Wingert will conduct a medical ethics case study activity during the event.

Tuesday’s program takes place at 6:00 p.m. in Williams Hall room 107 at Lincoln Trail College. It is open to both high school and college students and parents are invited to attend the event as well.
