Olney Central College’s Youth Explorer Camps are back! These fun-filled, one-day summer camps offer an excellent opportunity for students to explore their interests and hobbies while having a great time with peers.

Students can attend just one camp or all eight while engaging in plenty of hands-on activities under the guidance of OCC instructors. All camps will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Camps available include:

Metal-ing Around – Welding | Grades 7-12

Get ready to spark some creativity and light up your summer with our welding camp! Campers will learn all about welding safety and how a Mig Welder works. They will also get to choose their own project to build and make a name plate to take home. The camp will meet on June 1 in the OCC Welding Building.

My Own Game! Coding | Grades 5-12

This computer gaming summer camp is the perfect place for all budding game developers and coders to learn the ins and outs of creating their own video games. Campers will learn coding and build their own games. The camp will meet on June 6 in Wattleworth Hall Room 206.

Jazz for Young Musicians | Grades 5-12                                                                                                                          

Grab your instrument and get ready to jam as renowned Jazz musician and OCC Director of Bands Wade Baker guides you on an exploration of the musical genre of Jazz. Discover new artists and styles as you study the techniques and nuances of Jazz. The camp will meet June 7 in the OCC Band Room.

Soar Above! Drone Boot Camp | Grades 5-12

We’re taking our campers to new heights, literally as they learn to fly a drone. Get ready to experience the rush of adrenaline as you navigate our challenging obstacle course and participate in an aerial scavenger hunt. The camp will meet June 8 at the West Richland Center in Noble.

Stylist for a Day – Cosmetology | Grades 7-12

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a cosmetologist? Spend a day in our Cosmetology Studio and learn to style hair and paint nails like a pro. Get ready to put your creativity to the test as you experiment with different colors and styles to create your own unique look. The camp will meet June 9 at the West Richland Center in Noble.

Grease & Gears

Get ready for a day of fun, learning, and getting your hands dirty! In this camp, you will gain an understanding of the mechanics behind a car and the tools required to fix them. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of DIY maintenance and repair. Grades 3-5 will meet June 27 and Grades 6-8 will meet June 28. The camp will be held in the Automotive Building.

Blowing Up with Science | Grades 5-12

Are you a budding scientist who loves to explore the mysteries of physics and chemistry? If so, you’re in for a treat! We’re going to blow stuff up! Our summer camp offers a unique opportunity for young learners to participate in fun experiments and discover the wonders of science in a way they’ve never experienced before. The camp will meet on July 14 in Wattleworth Hall Room 302.

Ew! Awesome Biology | Grades 5-12

Join us for a day of discovery and exploration as we dive into the exciting world of biology! Touch a human brain! See DNA with your own eyes! Our knowledgeable instructors will guide young scientists through a variety of activities and experiments. There will be no shortage of opportunities to learn and have fun. The camp will meet July 28 in Wattleworth Hall Room 211.

The cost is just $10 per camp, which includes lunch and supplies. Payment is due at the time of registration.
