David Abell will share his real-world business and marketing experience during Olney Central College’s eight-week Introduction to Business course.

“The class is very relaxed, informal and interactive,” said Abell. “This is an opportunity to learn first hand from someone who works in business. For anyone who is curious about business, this class would provide a good overview. After taking the class, you will think about things differently.”

Abell brings a variety of experiences to the classroom. He has both a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and an MBA from Southern Illinois University. For the past decade, he has been employed at AM Transport in Olney where he worked in IT, sales and marketing before becoming the company’s CEO in January.

The class BUS 1101 Introduction to Business will meet from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning March 15. Topics will include modern sales along with business and key performance indicators. Students also will engage with several videos addressing modern business issues.

“The class is ideal for someone who may not want a full business degree, but is just looking for knowledge or has a good idea for a business,” Abell said. “This is a chance to vet ideas. Students can learn how to take a good idea to execution.”

To register, call 618-395-7777. The cost for the course is $431 for in-district students.
