Auditions Announced for LTC's Production of South Pacific

The Arts at Lincoln Trail College is proud to announce auditions for the 2023 LTC Theater production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific,” under the direction of Barbara Shimer and Cary Schiller and the musical direction of Yvonne Newlin. 

Open auditions will take place Wednesday and Thursday, January 18 & 19 in the LTC Theater beginning at 6 p.m. Central Time.  The performances will be on March 24, 25, 26, 31, and April 1.  

Any interested person seeking a role should download and prepare the audition music and reading selections available at www.iecc.edu/ltc/southpacific or on facebook.com/TheArtsatLTC after December 1st.  These selections will also be available at the Performing Arts Office.

The audition committee is looking for 2 children between the ages of 7 and 11 and performers of all ages to portray the roles of Nellie Forbush, Emile DeBeque, sailors, military and nurses, and Bloody Mary.  There are at least 2 roles that are French-speaking roles.  

This classic story takes place during the Second World War and addresses the issue of prejudice.  Famous music featured include “Nothing Like a Dame,” “Bali Ha’i,” “I’m in Love with a Wonderful Guy,” “Younger than Springtime,” and “Some Enchanted Evening” among others.
