Career/Job Fair and Exposition Sept. 16

Olney Central College will host a Career/Job Fair and Exposition from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the OCC Gymnasium.

OCC Coordinator of Career Services Allan Alldredge stressed the event is for the public as well as students. He encourages both to take advantage of this opportunity to network and to learn more about area businesses.

“Whether you need work or information about services available in the community, you should come,” Alldredge said. “Sometimes people just don’t know what is out there that can help make their lives easier.”

Around 40 businesses, service providers and educational institutions will have booths at the event. Among those attending will be Hella, Toyota Boshoku America, Pacific Cycle, the Illinois Department of Transportation, TrustBank, Pepsi MidAmerica and Clay County Hospital. Other participants will include Purdue University College of Technology, McKendree University, Franklin University, Eastern Illinois University, the Division of Rehabilitation Services, ARC and the Social Security Administration.

Alldrege said the college may host a similar event in the spring.

“This is an opportunity for the college to give back to the community,” he said. “The community supports the college and we need to support the community.”
