The holidays are just around the corner, and Frontier Community College will soon offer fun workshops to welcome the Christmas season.  Space is limited for each class, so interested individuals are encouraged to register soon.  The following workshops are on the Community Education schedule:  Christmas Tree Skirt, Barn Quilt Painting, Pie-Making, and Christmas Cupcakes.

The Christmas Tree Skirt workshop will be held on Saturday, November 9.  Students will meet in Bob Boyles Hall from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with instructor Gayla Templeman, and the class is open to all skill levels.  Students will piece and sew together a tree skirt (51” diameter) that reflects their unique personality and style.  The cost of the class is $30, and students will need to bring additional supplies to class.

Back by popular demand, FCC is offering a Barn Quilt Painting class with a holiday twist.  The class will meet from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. in Room 23 of Mason Hall on Saturday, November 16.  Students will tape and paint a festive quilt pattern onto a 20x20 pallet and take the completed project home to deck the halls.  Cheryl Harl will be the instructor.  The cost is $45, and the deadline to register is November 8.

Impress your friends and family just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with a 3-night Pie-Making workshop, led by Elizabeth Zurliene.  The workshop will be held on November 18 (Monday), 19 (Tuesday), and 25 (Monday).  Students will meet from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Room 119 of Fairfield Community High School, and they should enter the school through Door #2 (located between the gym and main office).  Over the three nights, students will learn how to make a pie crust from scratch, as well as prepare an apple pie with crumb topping, cream pie (choose from banana, chocolate, or coconut), and a pumpkin pie with decorative crust techniques.  The cost is $40, and students only need to bring a pie plate for each session.

Are you in need of some sweet treats for your upcoming holiday parties?  Instructor Heather Gerch will teach a Christmas Cupcakes workshop on Monday, December 2.  The class will meet from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Bob Boyles Hall, and the cost of the class is $25.  Students will learn six different decorating methods, and they will also learn how to prepare buttercream frosting and apply various piping methods. Each student will take home six decorated cupcakes and a frosting recipe for future baking.
