Curious George and the Golden Meatball Auditions
The Olney Central College Theater will hold auditions for Curious George and the Golden Meatball at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27-28 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center. Call backs, if necessary, will be at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30.
The part of Curious George will be voiced by someone off stage and the movement, in costume, will be performed by a different cast member onstage. To audition for the voice of George, you will be asked to do the George sounds. They should have expression and convey a message even though George does not speak English.
All auditions will use the sides (prepared reading) and will be voicing the part of the Man in the Yellow Hat. In the script, he is denoted as MYH. We are also looking for an Italian chef. You may do the Man in the Yellow Hat reading with an Italian accent at the audition if you are interested in that role.
We are looking for 6 on-stage individuals and 1 off-stage vocal George. With the exception of the Man in the Yellow Hat, the casting of all the characters in Curious George are not age or sex dependent.
In addition to the side readings, adults and high school students should be prepared to sing 60 seconds from any song with sheet music for the accompanist. There will also be a basic dance routine. Please see video above.
Rehearsal schedule will be 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, beginning on Oct. 7.
Performances for Curious George and the Golden Meatball will be Nov. 19-21.
