Military Tuition Assistance (TA)

Each military branch offers a Tuition Assistance (TA) program for Service Members. These programs provide financial assistance for voluntary, off-duty education programs that support the professional and personal goals of the Service Member. Eligibility for these programs is governed by federal law, Department of Defense Instruction and Directive, and the cognizant Military Service's policies, regulations, and fiscal constraints. IECC will work with the Service Member's Education Services Officer to provide assistance to those receiving TA. Please review the links below for information on the programs offered by each branch.

Return of Unearned Tuition Assistance Policy

Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded to students under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws prior to the end of the period, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of TA funds awarded.

TA funds are earned proportionally during the enrollment period. To comply with the Department of Defense policy, IECC will return any unearned TA funds on a prorated basis through 60% of the payment period the funds where provided. Unearned funds will be returned to the appropriate military Service branch within forty-five (45) days of notification that the student has ceased attendance.

Instances of Service members submitting a withdraw due to a service obligation shall follow IECC Policies of the Board of Trustees 500.21 and will not be required to repay an overpayment of funds based on the Return of Unearned Tuition Assistance Funds schedule.
