Tim Zimmer, Director of Academic Advising

Student Services Department

Tim has been advising students for IECC since 1996 and at WVC since 1998.  He oversees the advising program of the College. He is the senior academic advisor in the IECC District. Tim holds an Associate in Science degree from Wabash Valley College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Advanced Technical Studies from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  He is also an Illinois Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor for the College.  A United States Air Force veteran, Tim served over 7 years on active duty and another 16 years with the Air National Guard retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 2012.

Patrick Harris, Coordinator of Career Advisement

Career and Technical Education / Athletics

Student Services Department

Patrick has been advising students at WVC since 2018. He assists in advising, assessing, registration and placement of students into career and technical education programs.  Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science/Secondary Education from the University of Southern Indiana and a Master of Arts degree in Education/Sports Leadership and Coaching from West Liberty University.  Patrick also serves as the WVC Women’s Head Soccer Coach.

Michelle Woods, Program Advisor

Nursing

Bauer Media Center (BMC 5)

Michelle has been advising students at WVC since 2013.  She advises nursing and pre-nursing students; evaluates placement test scores and advises students of impact on ranking and/or remediation options, in addition to administering pre-admission testing.  Michelle holds an Associate in Science degree from Wabash Valley College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Murray State University.

Tayna Smith, Academic Counselor

Student Services Department

Tayna has been advising students at WVC since 2004.  Tayna counsels students in the TRIO Student Support Services program in order to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.  Tayna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Park University and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Tosha Baker, Coordinator

TRIO Upward Bound

Applied Arts Building (AA 110)

Tosha has served as the Upward Bound Coordinator at WVC since 2017.  She provides college and career planning services to Upward Bound participants at target high schools and at their assigned college campus. Tosha holds an Associate in Science and Arts degree in Business Management from Wabash Valley College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with a minor in Marketing, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  Tosha previously served as an Admissions Coordinator at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, recruiting students from multiple territories through innovative strategies, including community college visits, application workshops, and high school fairs.  In addition, Tosha has served as a Theatre House Manager for the Brubeck Theatre at WVC since 2013.

Jonathan Leach, Counselor

TRIO Upward Bound

Applied Arts Building (AA 112)

Jonathan has served as an Upward Bound Counselor at WVC since 2017. He serves as a Counselor for Red Hill High School and Mount Carmel High School. Jonathan holds an Associate in Science degree from Wabash Valley College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice with a minor in Forensic Science Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  Jonathan previously served as an Independent Living/Activities Specialist, creating plans and teaching residents independent living skills.  Jonathan has a passion for helping others reach their full potential.

Brady Martin, Counselor

TRIO Upward Bound

Brady has served as an Upward Bound Counselor at Wabash Valley College since 2020. He works in Carmi-White County and Grayville High Schools. Brady holds an Associate in Science and Arts degree from Wabash Valley College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Indiana. Previously, Brady served as a GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Corps Member, where he worked to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
