TRiO Upward Bound
Admission Procedures


Application for admission to the TRiO Upward Bound Program through Illinois Eastern Community Colleges is open to students in specified target high schools in Crawford, Edwards, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland, and Wayne counties. The U.S. Department of Education has outlined the following admission requirements:

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT

  • Is a citizen or national of the United States.
  • Is a permanent resident of the United States.
  • Is in the United States for other than a temporaty purpose and provides evidence from the Immigration and Naturalization Service of his or her intent to become a permanent resident.
  • Is a permanent resident of Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.
  • Is a resident of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of te Marshal Islands, or the Repubic of Palau.

FIRST-GENERATION REQUIREMENT

  • Neither Natural Parent having earned a Bachelor's Degree.

INCOME REQUIREMENT

  • Meet Family Taxable Income guidelines as established by the U.S. Department of Education.

ACADEMIC ABILITY REQUIREMENT

  • Has a need for academic support as determined by the TRiO Upward Bound Program, in order to pursue successfully a program of education beyond high school.

AGE REQUIREMENT

  • At the time of initial selection, has completed the eighth grade but has not entered the twelfth grade and is at least 13 years old but not older than 19.

The TRiO Upward Bound Program is an Illinois Eastern Community Colleges program located at Olney Central College, second floor, at the back of the Anderson Learning Resources Center (library).
