REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER AND FALL SEMESTER
If you have not registered, please set up an advising appointment with your counselor as soon as possible. The best availability of classes is during early registration.

SPRING TRIP 2013
The Spring Trip will be in Evansville, IN on Thursday, May 9. The trip will begin around the middle of the day. Check with your counselor for departure times. Lunch will not be provided but students will be given $10.00 for dinner.
The trip will begin with a campus tour of the University of Southern Indiana. Students will meet with admissions, tour the campus and residence halls or meet individually with USI staff. Anyone wishing to set up an appointment should contact their counselor.
Next will be a visit to the mall. Each student will be given $10.00 for dinner there. The bus will leave the mall at 5:45 p.m. for Broadway at the Centre's performance of "Rock of Ages" at 7:30 p.m. The performance will last two to two and a half hours.
If you signed up for the trip, please stop by the office and pick up the Instructor Sign Off sheet. This sheet will need to be returned to the office by April 30th in order for you to be eligible to go on the trip.

MENTOR TRIP
March 5-6, the 2013-2014 mentors met up with the current mentors for a time of teaching. The mentors spent the night at the Barn Abbey in New Harmony, IN. This old barn is situated on the edge of the Wabash River.
Students explored New Harmony, played games, and worked on pillowcases for hospitalized children with cancer.
Students also wrote out guidelines for the mentor program. Twenty-six students and staff attended.

TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDING ONLINE 24/7
As part of the Student Advantage Network, students have the option of free tutoring services, either peer or online.
Online tutoring is available for the first time this fall. A+ Online Tutoring Service provides tutors to students twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. The service requires minimal computer skills.
These tutors have masters degrees and will meet with the same student, according to their availability. Open communication between tutors and tutees allows for clarity and consistency. Provision is made for tutor/tutee incompatibility. If you are having any difficulties in class, set up an appointment now.

SPRING 2013 TRiO DAY
Spring TRiO Day will was held on Saturday, February 9 at Olney Central College. Our speaker was Josh Shipp. Josh has a television show which airs on Lifetime Network on Friday evenings. You can check him out at http://joshshipp.com.
Our agenda included break out sessions on Date Rape, Self Defense, Health Care Opportunities, Financial Aid, Tech Etiquette and information about a new SIU/C Elementary Education program.
Students who met the January 30th deadline for filing their FAFSA were entered into a drawing. The winners of the $25 Walmart gift cards were: Anna Rutigliano and Rex Gower from LTC, Haden Brackett and Chelsy Wiler from OCC, Sarah Richards and Katelyn Barbre from FCC, and Amanda Weir and Jessica Waldriff from OCC.

TRiO Day was October 27 at Olney Central College. Our motivational speaker was Matt Lewis. He created a large chalk drawing in a matter of minutes and projected a light show onto the drawing.

FALL TRIP to INDY
The Fall Cultural/Educational Trip was a success. Students traveled to Indianapolis for a visit and tour at the Indiana State Museum, a tour and career presentation at the Indianapolis Zoo, and dinner and a cultural demonstration at Santorini's Greek Kitchen. The meal was served family style and students were able to try a variety of Greek foods.

MENTOR TRAINING MEETING
The new mentors for the upcoming academic year were trained at a meeting on Friday, July 20th. Students travelled together to the Trace Inn at Red Hill State Park.
The meeting overlooked the lake. The mentors were privileged to test one of the activities scheduled for the Summer Bridge to Success Program.

SUMMER BRIDGE TO SUCCESS PROGRAM

The Summer Bridge to Success Program is a two-day required event for participants in the Student Advantage Network.
While being presented with an abundance of valuable information, students earned one credit hour for attending. This information is pertinent for transition to college life.
Activities included information on the financial aid process, Entrata and Angel; software programs used by the district for student records, budgeting, and various interactive activities.
