Statesmen pull away from SIC, 92-72

A second-half explosion spurred Lincoln Trail College's men's basketball team to their second win in three games Saturday.
The Statesmen broke open a close game at halftime and ran away from host Southeastern Illinois College for a 92-72 win in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play.
Lincoln Trail held a two-point lead at halftime, 37-35, then outscored Southeastern Illinois 55-37 after halftime to pull away for the victory.
The Statesmen were outshot at the three-point line 9-4, but countered that by making 20-33 free throws (61 percent) to just 13-27 foul shooting by Southeastern Illinois (48 percent). Lincoln Trail also made nine more field goals overall (34-25) than Southeastern Illinois in the game.
Leading the charge for the Statesmen was Jason Jordan, who poured in 35 points to follow up his 33-point performance Wednesday night in a loss to Wabash Valley. Jordan posted 18 points in the first half, 10 of which came at the free throw line, while tossing in 17 more after halftime, including two of his four three-point baskets.
Rob Reed tossed in 24 points for LTC, including 19 in the second half, Jake Frazier scored nine of his 13 points after halftime, Mike Anderson netted six points, Ilyas Salsanov, JoJo Hart and Teddy Maris added four points apiece and Delvon Brown had two.
Domonique Hagans led four players in double figures for Southeastern Illinois with 23 points, while Quintrel Morris, D'Markian Sallie and Robert Colmese scored 17, 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Lincoln Trail (8-17, 3-11 GRAC) will look to make it two wins in a row for the first time in GRAC play this season when the Statesmen play at Olney Central College Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
