Points were hard to come by Wednesday night, but it was more of a problem for the home team.

Lincoln Trail College's women's basketball team struggled to find the basket for most of the night, which resulted in a 64-46 loss to visiting Southwestern Illinois College in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play.

The Lady Statesmen managed just 23 points in each half and were unable to keep up with SWIC, who was one of five teams on the honorable mention list in the most recent NJCAA Top 20 poll.

Lincoln Trail fell behind 35-23 at halftime, then was outscored 29-23 in the second half, halting the Lady Statesmen's winning streak at one.

The Lady Statesmen made 17-49 field goal attempts in the game (35 percent), including 12-37 from two-point range (32 percent) and 5-12 from three-point range (42 percent). Meanwhile, SWIC connected on 25-48 shots from the floor (52 percent), which included a 19-31 performance from inside the arc (61 percent) and a 6-17 effort from long distance (35 percent). Southwestern Illinois also held an advantage at the free throw line, making 9-13 foul shots (69 percent), while LTC connected on 7-9 attempts at the charity stripe (78 percent).

Lincoln Trail was also outrebounded 41-29 and committed 25 turnovers to just 10 miscues for SWIC.

Justyne Sublett topped LTC with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal, while Amber Crumbie posted 10 points and two rebounds. Alex Morgan netted seven points and three rebounds, Samantha Beatty totaled six points, three steals and two rebounds, Gabrielle Duncan contributed five points, three rebounds and two steals, Erica Carpenter added three points, four rebounds and two assists and DeAsia Phillips had three points, two rebounds and one assist.

Janelle Cannon led three players in double figures for Southwestern Illinois with 17 points, while Stormy Williams and LaTeasha Hill netted 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Lincoln Trail (3-20, 3-8 GRAC) will play host to Kaskaskia College for Homecoming Saturday at 2 p.m.
