Lady Statesmen drop 2 in Michigan

The quest for their first win of the season continues for Lincoln Trail College's women's basketball team.
Lincoln Trail saw their season-long losing streak reach eight games following two losses at the Terry Gilette Memorial Classic in Kalamazoo, Mich. over the weekend.
On Friday, the Lady Statesmen lost to host Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 77-55. Lincoln Trail dug themselves a 39-24 halftime deficit, then were outscored 38-31 in the second half.
Amber Crumbie led LTC with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot, while DeAsia Phillips posted 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Samantha Beatty totaled nine points, four steals, four assists and two rebounds, Kristien Malone contributed seven points, six rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot, Erica Phifer netted six points, two rebounds and one assist, Gabrielle Duncan chipped in with five points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds, Alex Morgan tossed in four points and Ayanna Smith added two points, eight rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
In Saturday's third-place game, the Lady Statesmen had their closest game of the season, but still could not find a way to get over the hump.
The Lady Statesmen fell behind 40-28 at halftime, then outscored Sinclair 38-33 in the second half, only to fall short.
Malone had a big game for the Lady Statesmen, posting 24 points, 14 rebounds and three assists, while Smith totaled 11 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and one blocked shot. Crumbie netted eight points and five rebounds, Beatty contributed eight points, two steals and one assist, Phifer added seven points and one rebound, Phillips chipped in six points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal and Duncan had two points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal.
