Student First Institutional Assessment
- Used by faculty, staff, and administration to measure the overall effectiveness in all areas which have impact on student success.
- The Students First! Project, created through our participation in the HLC Academy for Student Learning is what brings the whole institution into the assessment picture.
- Each area should have set measurable student success outcomes.
- Tools commonly used are surveys, taste testing, completion rates, placement rates, focus groups, and many other creative methods!
- Questions Institutional Assessment Should Answer:
Are we contributing to the success of students?
What can we improve, change, or implement in our area that will increase the success of students?
Are we using current feedback concerning our area to enhance student success?
- Collected data and action steps should be reported the following path visiting the toolkit and then under Students First! on the left choose Results. Results should be submitted online by each area per year with updates on progress, how the results are being used to improve student success, and a basic time frame for moving forward.
