Adult and Family Literacy
The IECC Literacy Development Program offers adults and children the opportunity to enhance their reading skills. The Literacy Program serves all individuals throughout the IECC district with less than a ninth grade reading level.
Qualifying individuals work with a trained volunteer tutor to learn how to better speak, read, and write. These services are also provided to ESL (English as a Second Language) students and can help those interested in becoming a U.S. citizen to study for the citizenship test.
The Family Literacy program offers parents, grandparents, and children the opportunity to learn together. This program promotes active learning through fun and educationally based literacy activities such as children’s fairs, story hours, parenting classes, and individual and group tutoring.
